About Me

Hello, my name is Donna Holmes, I am a Mixed-Media Artist, Journal Maker, Crafter and Creator of Upcycled Papers for my artist projects and journals. I love exploring abstract, botanical paintings in graphite, acrylics, watercolours and collage materials. I am also a mature art student with Art Academy East, and in addition to my Home Studio, the college is my other “Happy Place”.

I am a prolific recruit of online courses, my current favourites are Karen Campbell Artist at Awesome Artschool and Ros Gervay at Art for the Heart.

I sold my first painting at a local gallery exhibition, it was an exhilarating, exciting experience and has given me the desire to continue to create and share my art with people. I have since sold further pieces, and continue to make art that thrills me.

I moved to Norfolk UK as a child and I have never left! I live with my husband, our two children and our cat. I am lucky enough to have my own Art Studio, built by my amazing husband in our Garden, where I can escape to create my art, whenever I want.

I have always loved to own great stationery products. I have pens that date back to my school years, and I’m afraid to say my oldest one is probably coming up to 40 years old.  Becoming a “grown-up” means I can venture into my creative side and as such I have been spending the last couple of years taking courses in various art techniques and mediums trying to learn as much as I possibly could and adding to my skill base. I am particularly enjoying this new phase of my life where I am investigating Art alongside my Feminine Archetype as I move into the “Enchantress / Wild Woman” phase of my life.   

In 2022, after a 1-year course, I gained a UAL Diploma in Art & Design with Art Academy East, In 2023 I achieved Level 3 with Art Academy East and I am back again for the 2023/4 year for a level 4.
